Dear members.

in order to improve our service, starting 2017 we would like to switch to higher resolution videos.
We also plan to stop adding WMV, and to go only with MP4.
This is regarding new videos, all older videos will be available in video formats as before.
We will be adding the smaller video format 640x360 as before.

Please vote, which video format do you prefer as for 2017
Please also feel free to add your own comment or suggestions on video formats.

Please provide also optional downloads in 4K. Full HD is below standards nowadays.

Jack, i am afraid that most members will be unable to watch 4K. It is very demanding on CPU resources ( you need a very fast computer) or a special video card with 4K support. Not to mention a 4K monitor with 3840 × 2160 resolution. Also, you need a lot of HDD space, a 30 minutes 4K video may take up to 7-10 GB on your hard drive.

However, i would like to see more views on 4K on this forum. I privately talked to some of our very loyal members, one of them told me, a 4K would be a overkill. We surely think about 4K, that is why the video resolution survey at the top of this page.

Just out of curiosity, can you post here what is your computer configuration?

Thank you

But it can be optional, who wants to keep downloading Full HD wouldn't be forced into 4K.

Dear Jack,

unfortunately, to offer 4K videos optionally is not that simple as it sounds. I wish it would.

To switch from HD to 4K requires an entirely new level of hardware, software and tech knowledge. So, it is not only about customer's hardware (PC, Tablets, phones, TVs), but entirely new hardware requirements are on our end. It may surprise you, but we have purchased a 4K camcorder back in 2016. But it is not about 4K camcorder, although 4K camcorder is the first step. Anyway, you need entirely different high-performance editing hardware including new editing software for 4K video editing. A lot of things need to be upgraded on our end, including various graphics (templates, logos, trailers) which we use - because of higher 4K resolution - you need to design everything from the beginning. You can not do a large 4K logo from a small HD logo. Yes, you eventually can, but it looks ugly, all is blurry etc.

So, to offer 4K as an option for a few members might sound easy, but again, it is not that simple. You can not do 4K from HD, it is the other way around, you need to downgrade a 4K video to a HD. Again, it is a lot of upgrading on our end, and we are not sure how many members would appreciate this effort at this moment. As you can see, not many people had joined this debate. One thing is clear, switching to 4K is only a question of time and we will be seriously thinking about it in upcoming months. Not to mention, there are already 8K TVs out there. I will keep you updated on this page.

Anyone else interested in 4K videos?

Perhaps you can spend some time on improving the technical quality of the videos now that you have time on your hands? I think the time is ripe for 4k.
